In pitiful plea the murmurs of sea
rise up from the roar of tumultuous storms
with a need to now find wisdom from fear,
love from no love, and compassion from tears,
on high and low roads, pebbled or paved,
until like a queen revered and admired.

On a cliff looking down and back long ago
there still is a smile and forever blue eyes
dedicated to love’s most timely dismissal
of the madness surrounding sole loneliness.

Across and around, spirit lands aside,
there flows a memory stream of pure ecstasy
but clarity and truth, mummies bound to secrecy
on the sea’s winding trail towards royalty.

Soft murmurs of the sea and there is no reward
if a plea like a bird flies overhead unheard
but I listen and can hear from a whisper to a scream
the words and intent of sea’s pitiful lament.

She says this and that - did you know it is a fact
that women and the sea interchange and interact?

"She says this and that - did you know it is a fact
that women and the sea interchange and interact?"

Yes, it is a fact.  And also, you are deep like the sea.

Excellent words but the sea does not lament

Stupidity that destroys lives is what lament for a politician

They die

He gets another job

Thanks Martie - but you know it's cold down there in the deep.

Dixie - thanks for the "wow".

Bodger - Ah, but you see, the sea can see everything so if the sea can see and I can see the sea, surely then the sea must plead with what/who it can see and lament to what/who it cannot see.  Sorry - Just on a silly roll like the sea this Friday night over the sea!

I read much into this one, Helen....as if a phrophecy.  There are two stories here...the surface story with your ending to jell it up....but then, I see a much bigger idea...which seems so applicable to what has just happened here in the US.  That first verse:

"In pitiful plea the murmurs of sea
rise up from the roar of tumultuous storms
with a need to now find wisdom from fear,
love from no love, and compassion from tears,
on high and low roads, pebbled or paved,
until like a queen revered and admired."

She is a woman....and she is to be revered.  But I somehow felt the parallel went deeper.....that we all (all humanity) need to find the wisdom from the fear... the love from no love....and the compassion from the tears.

Anyway, my friend.......this is one of my favorites of yours for sure.  It is beyond earthly.   .....jo

Thanks, Kaoru, for reading and for commenting.  Much appreciated.

Jo - Perhaps only when we have learnt to see beyond the obvious can there be the beginnings of change here on earth.  We are starting, as you have demonstrated by your comment here.  Perhaps too late to make any appreciable difference but, and hopefully, perhaps not.  The 3 things mentioned in the first verse of the poem are by no means easy to find but when we do, it's the keeping of them that's hard especially when life throws curved balls.  Try, try again - right?  Thanks, Jo.

Helen, you share so much when you share your heart ~ and your beautifully wise and philosophical mind!

I always enjoy reading your wondrous and thought-provoking poetry!

Helen~

In the murmers from the sea
there comes a wave, in break, to me
And in it's splash on this fine shore
I find your words ... in drenching adore~

Lovely pondering, poetess~

Thank you, Linda, but wise?  No, only when the sea and shore merge as one can I say that, yes, there was some wisdom around back then in the old days.

Marge - thank you so much but, oh, to be a poetess (re: your response) and not a story writer!  One day perhaps when the sea and shore ... as above.

This is absolutely stunning, Helen dear.
The water colors in each verse
are the softest shades of blue.
Like us women, the sea is a beautiful mystery.
I love this poem for so many reasons,
and you move me every time I read you.
