Let us get this straight:
I am not the anti-hero,
a clock stooping on the chair,
chicken bones telling time
to the peeled back layers of an envelope.

I don't know what I am.
I am not the anti-hero.

Please whisper pretend.
Please whisper pretend
in my ticking ear.
Please whisper,
pretend
in skull's gate,
where you'll find my eyes,
searching

your response.
