Baby, hold me down.
Roadway, hold me down.
Pine hill, hold me down.
Ocean, hold me down.

I watch the sun's old light,
snowy smooth as glass,
submerged permafrost.
Touching from below.

Rainy small hand shapes
pat my back, my hair,
smoothe away asides.
Ask me what I've done.

Won't listen to their cool.
I will not leave this bed.
I will not leave the salty floor.
The moon is lonely; swims ahead.

So spirit me away once more
above the ice and cold.
Silver bells tossed in the tide
make a song of streams of gold.

"Make a song of streams of gold."
This song sings, of tales untold,
As words are read, the themes unfold
--You are unique, you broke the mold!

I just can't help it, I pictured someone trying to capture and hold a squirrel...and wondered, now how could anyone possible do that? Sorry, I suffer from a very overactive, yet damaged imagination.

all kidding aside, it was a very good reply to the challenge! Well done!

ThisDiamond, thank you for the kind words on this poem and my writing.

Dulcinea, hey, aren't you the person who Don Quixote fell in love with? Well, a madman and a madwoman go together well.

Sometimes I think I write just to push thoughts away, so I won't think them.
Of course, to write them, I must have thought them.

Thanks, Cpat. What's hiding in my words? Just sadness and happiness grappling with each other until they fall sweaty and spent to either side of the line, as usual.

I think you should go back to your very first post here and look at it. You have grown so much as a writer while you've been here. It's a joy to read you Mike!

Thank you, Sharon. That really lightens my heart today.

From Housedown to Hold me down. Uh oh, more similarities than I thought.

Thanks again ... E-mail me, k? We need to set up another Open Mic Night Refuge.

Mikey

P.S. I love your words, too -- and glad to see that your block is ending in dribs and drabs.
