Stranger things have happened when I walk down an interstate between cities that have no important names or locations. Fewer people have waved, honked or called out to a lonely traveller; More sirens have blared and lights have flashed as the law realized it was being broken; And a twister had come down to whip around in my face once, just once before. But it had never gotten dark before, the path had always been clear. Headlights at least had blazed from over distant hills at limit breaking speeds, but this, this was darkness complete, leaving nothing to reflect off the reflectors, nothing to shine over pavement or concrete. Nothing to suggest that I wasn't alone, breaking strands of nothing with each dutiful step westward... ...towards nothing. Wind's Challenge |
