Reunion driving away the luggage behind us our rented car rolls back along the once familiar street they're all still smiling waving from the porch but softer now behind a little haze of rain the house, the street seem smaller greener, rain hazed colors almost right almost how they were so close to how they were how they are smiles from the porch a little rain near the corner the car warming to the job behind us still a wave or two too distant now for faces streetside branches lean across to close the scene the rented rearview posts a note "objects in mirror are closer than they seem" |

Ed, this sounded just like my family reunions are. It's hard to leave the cousins and everyone, because the next year some of them may not be there, for whatever reason. . I liked the style you wrote this in, too..... "Love makes the world go around" ~~with love and hugs from Ethel~~ [This message has been edited by garysgirl (02-16-2003 11:37 PM).] |

I try to vary my style as much as I can and still be true to the needs of whatever subject I'm writing about at the moment. Since I write about a wide variety of things that's not hard, but I pay attention to it too. If I write in one way all the time, I get bored with it myself -- pity the poor reader then! ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ [This message has been edited by Ratleader (02-16-2003 11:57 PM).] |

I really enjoy your talent. The writing style and imagery great! I especially like this line: "streetside branches lean across to close the scene" neat concept! Thanks for sharing your poetry with us. Hugs, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

A beautiful way to soften the most painful part of a reunion. I always hate the "goodbye" part, it makes me cry every time. |
