Everything but Weakness
By Larry Chadwick
Peace dear friend

Withheld for so long
your pain erupted
and bruised my heart.

Tears blended
both
by your agony
and
my failure to know.

Sometimes it’s pictures,
other times
a note.
Always –
unexpected.

Tears
not yet familiar
with the loss of you.

Tunes of recall,
grandpa in church,
us courting,
favorites you shared.

Tears of emotion,
also devotion,
even adoration.

The pleasure
of your accomplishments.

Tears inspired
by the milestones
of school,
of marriage,
of divorce
and employment
even
healing.

As a friend of mine once said,
“tears aren’t always about weakness”.
Friend…they seldom are.

I really like these lines. But then I also really like the whole poem. It flows like a tear running down a cheek and getting caught in the dimple of a smile.

Tears are the hearts release.

I am such an emotional person and tears go with every emotion.

How delightful that you brought this back. Thank you. Our friend Michael Auguste is no longer with us but continues to touch our lives. You are so kind.

You are so right. I am glad I stopped to read. I opened this poem because my thoughts have turned to Michael in recent days, but the poem is so worthy....yes, glad I stopped.

Thanks for the visit. His story, IMHO, is so sad. A family without their husband and father. And thank you cor remembering.
