Two poems about adopted children this evening (10/24) prompted me to post this poem about children. Please enjoy this. It is for all children....and us grown ones too. A Child’s Life A child’s life is full of so many things during all the years while they grow. With a voice like when an angel sings the notes always high and never ever low. They worry about the least of what would normally just be a part of our day. They remember all that we could not for that is the child’s very own way. They keep their toys in little piles which are seldom where they should be. They ride their bikes for miles and miles and occasionally fall and skin an elbow or knee. They routinely are told to brush their teeth or hair pick up the dirty clothes from the floor. They do mischievous things only a child would dare then always come up with at least one more. They talk and babble a mile a minute or two sometimes making so little or no sense. Leaving me sitting , wondering what to say or do ‘cause by then I feel so very terribly dense. Their faces reflect their every mood whether when they are happy, hurt or sad. Sometimes sit, eating only little bits of food, particularly during times when they are not glad. They take a no soap bath and get things wet, rarely ever picking up or mopping the floor. While making us wonder what’s to come yet if we have to look behind the bathroom door. They love us no matter how much we’ve said they are wrong or been bad. Giving us a great big hug or wet kiss when their own day has been long or sad. They often fall asleep on the den floor in front of a blank, meaningless TV screen. Still lying there when I come in the door, looking so innocent, peaceful and serene. They are children born innocent and pure trusting in us for all that they will need. Hoping that our love will forever endure and forgive them for every wrong deed. |

Magnus; I had to reply to this one. This writing is what I have been missing. I love your poems about the family. We had a long week end with our grands and every word you shared is certainly true. Children are such a precious gift. They can drive us to total distraction, but what a wonder they are. Wanda |

Seymour....None of us can write enough to express the joy of our children....Maybe we need to do it more....so that they know we truly care for them. That they are so special to us. |

Magnus This was such a wonderful piece of writing and I loved every word. How easily I could relate to the things you said. I have a 9 year old daughter named Elysa and she means the world to me. Take care......Sue Suetang |

Magnus, Oh, and forgive them and care for them and love them unconditionally we do. Children our our connection with the past and our bright hope for the future. Well done. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

Thanx Sue....I wrote this about a year ago. Meant a lot then....just as much now. My two are very special to me. Tim and Ashley, (11) and (8). We adopted them when they were little. |

Love, understanding, consideration of their needs...Knowing they are just a child. That they have so much to learn in life. Knowing they need us to be there for them. Yes. they are precious. Thank you Chris. |
