Nimble fingers strike the first chord Its timbre resonates within me As my body reverberates in its sound Succumbing to the purity of the melody Which flows from the ebony and ivory keys Played flawlessly tonight after hours of study The pianist plays with such emotion I am easily lost in between the harmony Contrasting through the air before the stage Nothing exists beyond the instrument’s euphony Filling the concert hall with glorious music Cascading from the ceiling flowing from the balcony It reaches my ears in a waterfall of perfect pitches Gathering together like the people of a colony Or a swarm of bees buzzing about their hive As they make the sweetest honey They are so in tune with each other Together they create their own symphony The audience is captivated as they listen Motionless they seem bound in mahogany Eyes intent on the musician before them His performance tonight fulfills his destiny To become one the greatest pianists in the world By the end of the performance he basks in victory He rises and bows before the applause I smile when I catch him looking at me Then he brings his hand to his lips Gently blowing me a kiss for all to see Why do I love this man so? He alone heard my heart’s tender plea All writing comes by the grace of God. -Ralph Waldo Emerson [This message has been edited by Lone Wolf (edited 07-17-2001).] |

LW---I liked this so much! Many years ago I sat while someone I loved played 'Moonlight Sonata' for my audience of one. I will never forget how the moment filled every sense I had and this brought back the memory so clearly. Thank you so much for this! |

Thank you all for your kind replies. I've been in a strange mood lately and I think my poetry is reflecting that. Hope you all like it! All writing comes |
