Please don't let me fall away dripping down the wall the rocks are rough and jagged and I've not learned to crawl. Please don't ignore my plea when seeking sustenance you'll steal away my need to be and stow away my dance. Please just pay me little heed I need to know I matter oh, let my words bring little seed and find me in the clatter. © June 26, 2001 |

You have planted many a seed of hope and song among the blue pages, Virginia, and none of us are ready to allow you to lay fallow... well done! |

I've often thought that it was strange that retired people would feel they didn't matter because they didn't have a 'job' to do each day. I'm not retired, I need a job, even though I like not 'having to punch a clock' because I can write more. Still, needing to feel I matter does come in to play, nonetheless. It is easier to understand how retirees feel. Thank you all for reading and your comments. This is so funny, my just desserts, really, for making this poem. It was spawned by watching the other poem I posted this morning fall down, cascade down the forum. One reader did drop in and offer some help...but what this poem has done is get its own readers, while the other still drips on down. Ironic.
