Cocoon In Hand Frozen, are the impressions of golden wings Embedded in the walls of this tattered heart The wind whispers the song of love she sings As I am left with a cocoon now torn apart Rainbows no longer shine in dark of night Stars no longer dance to tunes in the breeze Thunder is hidden in the path of her flight As pastel kisses float across turbulent seas Nectar cannot be found in this rose of love Sighs no longer echo between canyon walls Tears fall silent from salted wings of a dove As the heavens rise when the butterfly falls Chambered are the cries once heard so clear Restrained from fears - weighing today's cost Visible is the laughter as it cascades in cheer Cocoon in hand, I smile - knowing I am lost Mark Christopher |

Sy-Not so somber as it may appear if you look to the happiness in the heart to be able hold such a beautiful memory of this golden cocoon and the flight that the butterfly now takes. Thank you very much sir. I am glad you enjoyed the read. |

Mark, this is such a bittersweet journey...I truly felt the sorrow, and yet at the same time the acceptance and beauty. You have an incredible way with words and I'm glad I got the chance to read this wonderful piece. *Krista Knutson* I'm a slow dying flower In a frost-killing hour The sweet turning sour and untouchable... -Natalie Merchant |

Koko-Thank you so much for that and the hug. I am happy you liked it. Krista-I am glad that you read also as your replies are always so wonderful. Thank you very much. VAS-Somber is not necessarily bad in some instances but I am happy that you liked this piece. Thank you. Kris-I am glad that you found the beauty in this one. I appreciate the wonderful words you leave with me always. Thank you much. Kathleen-There is nothing strange about thinking the catapillar is beautiful nor are you strange. I too think the catapillar is one of nature's beauties. Thank you much. |

SEA-I am not really sad, but instead smiling big in the fact that I know of a butterfly that has found her wings and being that I will forever hold a love for her not to be matched, how could I not feel a need to celebrate her new birth. Holding the cocoon allows me the sweet knowledge that I was around when she started adorning her wings and those memories are the sweetest I could ever hope for. Thank you for the kind words and of course, cowboy ain't stupid so I will gladly take that hug of yours and enjoy every second of it tremendously but you already knew that. Karilea-Thank you much. I am glad you liked it. [This message has been edited by Mark Bohannan (edited 03-02-2001).] |

and quote yeppers unquote (I thought of it all by myself...you just must have been listening in at the time *g*...but ok, we can share it *s*) acceptance is what allows us to keep the love and let the pain go...this poem does that so well...its not easy though...I know...*nods her head* nicely penned mark |

Mark my friend, wonderful poetic purity. I really think that this is one of your best, truly fabulous. I see the smile and the light, it's a wonderful thing when freedom rings so clear and true. Beautifuul imagery as always, and perfect flow, a really excellent piece. Take care love Mushy Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |

I would hesitate to label one poem as your best since everything I read of yours is quality work... so I'll simply say I've never read better from any pen. *S* I can't imagine a more excellent depiction of an unconditional love... I just hope that one day, your smile won't be a sad one. *S* This is beautiful, Mark... |

sigh.......as I have found so often with your words they show the heart of a gentle man with a caring soul. So well written Mark, and of course going into the library. We all have to learn to let go some times, and cherish what we can take with us. Well done dear friend.. Enjoy life...this is NOT a dress rehearsal. *s* |

Mark~ I've read and re-read...and yes read again...I've tried for hours today to reply in verse to you and all that I write falls short of the emotion that this piece provokes. Truly one of the most beautiful you have written...and yes of course I'm biased when you write of what we have shared...you know my dear friend that the "cocoon" you speak of would have turned into a steel cage if you had not shown me the beauty that life had to offer...the feel of the breeze, the taste of raindrops...the beauty in the heart of another. There is no way to thank you for all the gifts you gave...and all the things that we shared...Thank you sweet poet...for all that you showed me and for making me use it...thank you for setting me free...and giving me the strength and the voice to do it on my own....From the bottom of my heart I thank you...through falling tears I tell you that you will always be in my heart...and we will always have a friendship built upon Luna's Deck, nothing can ever take that away~ |

~Strength to Heal~ Time apart to heal the wounds that run so deep Trying so hard to remain strong for you To show you these promises I can keep Proving to myself my motives are true As loneliness rushes in with waves of fire I look to the memories of stars and a wind blown kiss Along this quest to freedom I know I will tire But I only need to reach for a memory of bliss Strength comes from the soul and this is where you dwell Deep within me sending reason to move on and fight With you in me I could walk barefoot through Hell Knowing at the end of the darkness stands your guiding light I can do this for you.... Healing for me In time perhaps I’ll soar to you on gilded wing One look into my eyes and you would see The song of peace and freedom you gave me to sing Hope you remember this one....I carry the song Mark...and sing it daily~ |

JM-Yes they are meant to be free and I know you agree with me when I say that never has a more beautiful butterfly taken to the skies than she. I do so enjoy the fact that you know and understand and that the both of us can share the happiness she now finds lifting her to new heights. Thanks sweetness....hugs and love to ya. jellybeans-Ya know, if you are going to nod your head so willingly and talk about sharing and all then maybe we should inform a little south bound breeze just what lies in the storm of such a promise. ROFL.......thank you much and of course I know you can relate and I know you have the strength and the heart to hold the good and dispense with the pain. Martie-Somehow I knew that when you passed out a hug that a light would be shining because you just have the way about you. Thank you sweet friend. Check your driveway and get ready to hug away. Marsha-Thank you and yes, within the flight of her freedom, I live in happiness knowing that our bond was and is strong enough to silence all those that tried to rob her of her wings. suthern-Hey look here........I am standing on my head and now my frown is a smile. See, nothing to it when you look at the world at a different angle. There is much to be said for attitude and for happy thoughts using the sad ones to build there foundation on and she has shown me that and taught me that. Thank you those wonderful words of my pen. I do so appreciate them and you. Deb-The sadness is gone ... the loss is only the nurturing that she no longer needs but the real gain in all of this is that I get to watch as she flies free in happiness and I grow knowing that my heart will forever be that large pattern right in the middle of her wings. I cheated and painted it on when she wasn't looking. LOL Thank you my poet friend and guide to God's grace. You mean much. Kethry-The sad is only a mere fraility of humanity not being able to accept what is meant to be. Thank you much my friend. Moon Dust-Thnak you, I am glad you enjoyed. Poeminister-She always did leave me with a smile and she continues to do so and if that can be shared with you then her magical ways are still spreading there peace. Thank you much, I am glad you liked the composition. Marge-Thank you and of course you know that I need no thanks for being there when you need me no matter what hour of the day or night it be. And yes, IKWYM ....goes both ways my dear friend. Gentle Spirit-Yes we do, and I am blessed enough to be able to take with me the sweetest memories of her kisses and tears alike and they are both of heaven's dust for sure. Thank you so much. Mother_Earth-The strength comes from the knowledge that she is ready to take on the world and show it how to love and that makes it so easy. Besides, she carries with her something that should never be kept hidden from the world and I would have to be selfish to have to tried but you already know this stuff don't you? Never doubt that cowboy smiles daily because of what her and I will forever share and I don't need to hold her in my hand to feel her happiness. Thank you so much ... now dry those tears and give that butterfly a hug for us both. Holly-Well Ms. Pastel Wings ... I could go on forever just trying to scratch the surface of what you have given me and what we mean to each other but hey ... we live it anyway so no need for me to say it all. I am so happy that you are singing that particular song and yes, your voice is as beautiful now as it was when "Amazed" first came out of you to carress this cowboy's heart and no need to worry about Luna's deck.......How could I ever forget how beautiful you looked as you gazed to the sky that night silently pleading for a simple breeze of warmth and then choosing to allow mine to find your cheek. Yeah, I do believe that you could safely say that deck is forever ours. Thank you my sweet friend for all you gave and continue to give back. Whenever you feel that warm breeze, just remember, it is only I coming in to kiss that cheek of yours to reassure you that I am still smiling. I love you and I love us but most of all ... I love the sound of your song these days. |

Wonderful write Mark my friend! Once again the lament of sadness is written in a beautiful art form...such poetic worth you have created from this lonely pain. Great writing as usual from you..... keep up the good work my dear poet friend. The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |
