Reflections on My Knotty Pine |

I have some time, So I'll opine, About my piece, Of knotty pine. A splendid board, A two-by-four, I bought it at, The lumber store. I must admit, When I first saw, The knot I thought, It was a flaw. It's knot. For nature gave, My piece of pine, A unique gift, And now it's mine. My knotty pine, Has brought me pleasure, Because a knot, Can be a treasure. A house that's built, From perfect pine, Just may not be, A home divine. Knotty Pine (original and uncensored, on tape or CD, available at your favorite local lumber store) I went to the lumber store, To buy myself a two-by-four, Found a piece of fresh cut pine, Tied it to my car with twine. When I got home, did twine untie, For the first time, then did spy, A knot. I'd bought a piece of knotty pine, Now I'm knot one who's prone to whine, But knotty pine, it just don't work, You might think is just a quirk, It's knot. I drove back to lumber store, Said I want this pine no more, May I have my money back, And put this board back in wood stack? The clerk replied, it's your tough luck, With knotty pine, you now are stuck, Its knot Our problem, you should have looked, Before you bought, your goose is cooked. Cooked goose I yelled, you stupid clerk, I'm knot a chef, you ignorant jerk. Was kicked out of the lumber store, So home I went with two-by-four. I guess I'll keep my knotty pine, It did no good to fuss and whine, While maybe knot best wood I've had, My knotty pine, it's knot so bad, It's knot. LOL Mike! Wonderful verse! As someone who's spent hours with their carpenter husband picking out the "perfect pieces of wood" ... I loved this!!! Best wishes, /Kit |

Thank you all for the replies. The CD is narrated by Woodie Harrelson, dedicated to the memory of Woody Guthrie, and all proceeds go to the Woodrow Wilson Memorial, and knot only that, Woody Hayes gives a few football tips at the end, believe it or knot. Woody Allen asked to participate, but I said Knot! Again, thanks for the replies. |
