Poe Edgar had a lobster tale
On Cape Cod's shore was set.
One fateful day he pinched a snail
Trapped in a fishing net.

Poe Edgar All 'e knew at sea
Were crabs that made him fret;
When finally he was set free
He fled from Cape's inlet.

Poe Edgar he was not a wimp,
Upon this you can bet.
Each day he dined on Jumbo Shrimp,
The oxymoron set.

Poe Edgar toured the countryside;
He crawled on swimmeret.
On pleopod went far and wide,
Untrawled and nary wet.

Poe Edgar soon had food no more;
No seafood could he get,
So far from ocean's bottom floor
With lobster traps and net.

Poe Edgar searched for food to sup,
Hitchhiked on truck and jet.
Thought they said "SUP" but they said "UPS"
He'd find some dinner yet...

Poe Edgar trekked as he had sworn,
And he had no regret;
For he espied vast fields of corn
In ear-ie tête a tête.

They said, "It's time for lobster, din,
The table is all set..."
Poe Edgar took a clobberin' -
He'd thought he'd be their pet!

Poe Edgar All'e never knew
His fateful tale was met...
Claws he became a lobster stew
And then his tail was ETT!!

Nan,

This is a good one...loved every line.  Well done!  Not the lobster, your poem.

Nan~

A wonderful chuckle
A little grin
Caught in the seining net
of your pen

Ooh, the lobster serenade
upon my plate so succulently laid
Such a well-done cuisine treat
gladly, Lobster Poe Edgar .. I did eat !

ROFL... TOO CUTE!! -this is Poefully crafted! Shell you allow me to reply in rhyme??? Of claws you will! hehe
(loved it!!! )

Once upon a dinner leery
As a lobster pondered, weary,
Over destiny, in fear-y -
Lost in ocean's dismal shore.
Suddenly there came a jett-y
But the lobster wasn't ready
To be supper, so he said-y,
But he was, and Nothing More.

Poor lobster! What a sorry tale
Of sadness and regret.
He only wanted happiness
And wound up getting ett!

The lobster's story is my own.
I came out of my shell...
Some gal stuck me in water hot
And boiled me to hell!

I think that she was Japanese
Or could have been Malaysian
No matter...it is never good
To trust a crusty Asian!

Though I thought this tale unique
I feel sad for lobster, Poe
Seems to the seaboard I must sneak
to let his brothers go!!

Don't tell me tales of meat
from pigs and cows and such
Vegetables are all I'll eat
Thank you very much!

Poe Edgar thanks you kindly folk
For savoring his tale
Refrain he will in his next life
From dining on those snails...

Claws pinching them you can be sure
He learned his lesson well
To stay down deep where he belongs
And stick to scallop shells....

He'll not go near a lobster trap
Or get snagged in a net
From this point on he'll watch his tale
On this I'd surely bet!
