Way back when, in October of 1999, some of our poets participated in a project entitled My Home Town, in which members posted a poem about where they lived. They could choose their city or, if they preferred, their state, area or country. It was quite a success. We found that it gave us insight into each poet's life to the point where we felt we knew them better than just a name on the screen. It greatly increased the familiarity we shared with each other. Well, that was then and this is now. Passions has grown by leaps and bounds and many more countries are represented now than back then. Also our membership has increased substantially. So...we propose to do it again.
Should you care to join in, please write a poem about your home town or area in which you live. E-mail them to me at bigroach@gate.net and I will compile them into a collaberation of all participating poets. If you would like to see the first one, please go to.. /pip/Forum69/HTML/000849.html

If you feel you would like to participate but need some time to complete it, please let me know so that I can wait for you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how you may look at poets in different ways after viewing the world through their eyes based on their surroundings....and you will learn a lot more about your country and the world, in general.

Happy writing.....

Gee 1999...I remember that year!  And as things change about home towns, I won't submit what I wrote before, but will add to it substantially....so yes, count me on board!

I would think a week to ten days should give everyone enough time. We will play it by ear and see how it goes...

I posted one a long time ago about my home town...it wasn't back in 99 though, because I've only been posting here since last December...can I re-post it?

I think this is a great idea, Michael

Here's an update m'deer:
Sharon has decided to write a hometown poem afterall in tribute to Vancouver

But, lazy ole me can't muster the time to write one about St. Catharines (the garden city).
So, is it okay if I just submit an oldie tributing Canada?
If not, it's all good!

Sorry, patootie. This is actually an effort to show a little of our lives to the other members...where we live, what we see, the characteristics of our surroundings which adds a personal touch to the name on the screen....just a general poem about a country really doesn't do that, yanno?

Things are moving along..

So far I have...

Sunshine
Kethry
Titia
Muys
Marsha
Krissy
Marge
Victoria
PDV
Madame Chipmunk
Denise

All you promisers need to get going. I'd like to wind this up by the weekend and present it next Monday...

Onward, Passion soldiers!!
