If Truth Be Told |

If Truth Be Told Are we sufficiently bold? Are we honorable enough to acknowledge our apparent collective desperate reality, that glorious Gaia is suffering the consequences of our self-serving mindset, our ignorance and carelessness, our complete disregard for truth and justice, our disrespect for the rainbow of diversity, and the rights of all living things as well as those of humanity? Have we bought some suicidal “utilitarian” philosophy, some whatever-is-convenient-is-right reality? Are we willing to stop trashing our only home, Planet Earth? Or do we continue to allow our pocketbooks to hold us hostage, trapped in a pathetically misguided (selfish) "survivalist" mode? We profess to adore Gaia, revere scintillating Mother Earth imagery. But do we possess sufficient intestinal fortitude to truly modify our personal daily footprints in order to rescue her from our blunderings? Or shall we slink away silently, stacks of story-tales between our legs, and succumb to installment payments of lip service, purposely pointing Fate’s fickle finger elsewhere, desperately hoping to avoid any acknowledgement of a “We failed” reflections-glare? Just how far does reality-avoidance extend its ugly shadow? Do we dare step off the well-beaten path paved in fool’s gold? If truth be told, just how bold are we? |

Midnitesun, This is a good poem, the first one I’ve seen in a while. So many heads buried in the sand here in ostrich land. Heaven forbid that people would accept diversity of any sort. It would upset the domestic tranquility. It makes you wonder. Bobby |

I can only hope that all who read this fine, timely, and truly 'important' write (that dares to ask some of the 'really large' and most critical questions) will also choose to read "WindWalker's": /pip/Forum103/HTML/003615.html AND: /pip/Forum103/HTML/003565.html most serious and significant applause!! ~ [This message has been edited by secondhanddreampoet (06-24-2007 07:55 PM).] |

I think it all depends on how much money is going to enter the pockets of those in power, my friend, and that's a very unfortunate thing. One anymore, I believe, that we have little have hardly any control. The masses could do it . . . but the massses are, regretably, lacadaisial. j. |

Thank you friends, for taking time to read and comment. Lately, each day I struggle to find something positive to believe in. Poetry seems to be one of my greatest sources of comfort. |
