Fairy Tale Envy

And the sense of fairy tales
Make me want a fairy tale too
The love that’s shared
Is the only thing I am jealous of

How I want a prince as kind
To whisper sweet things to me
Someone to hold me day and night
Give me comfort and love

I sing their songs
Thinking maybe that’ll bring me
What I desire most
But of course- only in fairy tales

It warms my heart to hear the songs
But the pangs of envy win
I want what I can’t have
A fairy tale of my own

I wonder why
Can’t I have that love?
The soul of fairy tale romance
The want and need of mine

Maybe I can sit and not think
Of the scenes of beauty
That comes from the inside to the out
But no I can’t let go

So I’ll be miserable
From fairy tale envy

If love were a picture that painting would never be finished.
