Computer Mice

I awoke early this morning
with no thought of a mouse,
but overnight they gathered
and crept into my house.
I do not know why I should fear
such tiny things as mice.
I am sure that I outweigh them
a hundred times by thrice.

They've invaded my computer
and have crawled into my mind.
Now every line of poetry
has one of them entwined.
They filed into the clock works
and slowed the time hands down.
I should be in my church pew, not
still in my dressing gown.

But perhaps that's for the better,
for it would not be nice
to go to Sunday services
and bring along these mice.
I do not have a kitty
to chase them from the house
and I think they are abetted
by my computer mouse.

Poet Devine I hope you realize
that you're the one to blame
by opening this forum
to play this mousey game.
I wasn't forced to join in
but it looked like so much fun
before I knew what happened
the damage had been done.

I do not dare to open
another forum today
until these mice are all corraled
and put safely away.
Some mice will scurry harmlessly
and some are flying bats,
but I find therm all revolting since
they look like tiny rats.

Rats have been long reported
to bring disease and such,
so please don't let them in this game.
Ron wouldn't like that much.
