"The Firefighter's Oath" I promise you until the day that I die when I take my last breath in this phase of my life I will answer the call and pass through the flames forsaking myself for the sake of innocent lifes wearing my heart squarely on my sleave overriding the fear inside of my mind with courage and passion against this faceless foe, an attaché of death's silent effect causing pain and deep sorrow that stains the soul black for everyone within the heart of one person: man, woman, or child And if I should parish in this war zone know that I died, integrity intact doing my duty; a brave, loving man with a clear conscious and sense of strong justice in the face of the unknown terror that thrives on panic and anxiety from the poisonous smog filling the lungs until there is no room to spare, but the spirit fights on until there is no bite in my bark and then you will feel my presense everywhere, a lingering ghost in the wind and the streets I'll protect you in death just like in life never leaving your side, your omnipresent knight I'm taking my own chances to find truth between the lies. Its kinda like just what it is. http://www.myspace.com/theshedevil05 |

Thanks for the read ChePacifica. I hope I did the noble life of a firefighter justice. I was thinking of creating a short story around the premise of this poem and 9/11. And now I'm trying to incorporate it into my story-kiind of hard when my brain is fried. Anyways thx ~J. |
