Like Fall

It's only cold when the wind blows hard,
or when I stand still, or when you're not here,
so I long for the sun to come up soon
so the frost on my heart will disappear.

I really should know better by now.
This is merely an addiction.

Winter only makes it worse
and summer is a contradiction.

I keep picking up the phone to call,
knowing that it's not right at all.
I'm useless to stop the wind from blowing
like I cannot stop the love from flowing
and now it feels a bit like Fall.

That last line
will probably circle around
and in
my head

all day.

I love how you put that in about picking up tthe phone to call, but it really wasn't right...but it was something you just had to do, but...

good job.

If you hadn't written another line, I would have been glad I stopped in... for you wrote my heart with these. *S*

Excellent poem... the whole thing! *G*

Dixie, this is you writing at your best!
Every single line..I love it!
Such a melancholy autumnal ache.
heart hugs.

Autumn, the year's last loveliest smile~

Dixie, this is such a touching and emotive write ~ and so poetically expressed!

"so I long for the sun to come up soon
so the frost on my heart will disappear."

~ Oh, yes, I too have felt that way. Thank goodness, my own shadows have passed.

"I really should know better by now.
This is merely an addiction."

~ You are wiser than you give yourself credit for.

A beautiful piece of writing.

I definitely can relate to this. As a matter of fact it often seems as if there's only one season in my life, and that would be fall, where everything seems to fall apart on me.

I wish we humans could have more control of our lives, instead of being blown about like so much tumbleweed. The only thing that sometimes consoles me is when I see other tumbleweed blowing by beside me. Now, THAT is sad, isn't it?
