No scale
has been found
on which to weigh
what has no height
nor breadth
by which to measure.

Yet in an aeon past
cradled gently
in these hands
it rested, briefly.

No river
did I find
from which it flowed,
nor well
from where
it might be drawn,
and no vessel
able to contain
that which rules
un-restrained.

Beyond monetary value
it can neither
be bought nor sold
and there is no rope
by which it can be bound
or tethered.

Nor does it leave
the lovely words unsaid,
even when left wanting
on the other side of midnight.

Somewhere I once read
a strange old rusty tale
that said,
though it might be lost
it can still be found,
for whilst a heart beats
it knows,
love is a beginning
without end.

That void exists within each of us that only love can fill.  Many outward ailments and limitations are due to lack of feeling loved, yet it's rarely diagosed.
Great write!
Love's power cannot be measured either

If I was really sixteen I'd by crying with the reading of this most moving poem but a lot of us women keep a special place for who we once were and, yes, well, we'll just let her do her thing, shall we?

Rae, it is what makes the world go around, and no one has figured how to stop that yet.

Helen, love is, whether it be past present or future, beautiful. Tears would do it an injustice, a smile is better, besides, tears make your eyes look funny.

Uriah, thanks for stopping by, and you are quite right, without it there is nothing.

Seymour, hopefully not so many as to render you speechless for too long. Thank you for your comments.
