You lecture me on happiness as if an emotion is a suit of clothes merely needing the right accoutrements, a few simple alterations, of course the right shoes, and the wearer’s proper attitude; this sadness in me is a cold reality, harsh and brutal in its unforgiving depths, it is winter without shelter when the rain turns into ice. ©2006 by icebox |

it's so hard to wear happiness if it just doesn't fit |

I felt the chill of an unrelentless winter in the very marrow of my bones as I was reading your words. Clothes do not make the man ~ nor can they make the man happy ~ but perhaps a 'Happy Pill' could. If so, I'll conjure one up for you, Dear Wizard! Your poem made me want to give you a warm, comforting hug and a bottle of sunshine. Loving Light EA |

icebox Happiness, does it really happen? Even to those who appear happy? I have been able to change my attitude just a shadow and change the perception of what I see and feel in a more positive way. Maybe that's happiness, but I don't think so. ![]() |

Can anyone really define this state called happiness? Most excellent thoughts to ponder here Sir. ~Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile~ |

I don't really know if there is such a thing either, my friend. But, I do think there is something we can attain....perhaps, that is serenity. Forgiveness, now that is one hard, cold lesson. Even when we learn how that works....the shadows tempt us to drudge up old emotions...a never ending and tiring process, it seems. Much to ponder here, Mr. C. |

"this sadness in me is a cold reality," Not a happy write by any means but a totally realistic one. A cold reality can thaw though if we shiver long enough to really seek the fire and spark of "happiness". |

I discovered in Crowley that camouflage can be dressed up nicely with the right accessories--a little leather knife pouch, some shrimp boots, flap cap? *shrug* It worked for me. ![]() and hugs to you--the knife was all I actually needed. ![]() There's some that just don't know, and ignorance is indeed bliss. ![]() I love you charly. thank you again |

The most brilliant title I've seen to date. Just thought I'd give you a kudos for that, as well as the piece itself. Once you are truly insane, it’s all picnics with Kafka after that. See, it’s the process of going crazy that you gotta worry about. |

"as if an emotion is a suit of clothes" Some wear emotion as a suit of clothes, ever noticed how poor their dress sense is, you can't miss them, they are always telling everyone else what to wear. |
