The Best of Me

The best of me is lost at sea
The rest of me is vis-à-vis
The rage of goal has cut a toll
Waging war within my soul

The Raven flies a blackened sky
On cactus wings with haunting cry
With revelations weary wage
I tire of the sickness age

There is a key that suits me well
That sits somewhere just short of hell
And though I search each shred and thread
She will not take my hand in wed

I hear a distant lullaby
A metaphor and symbols cry
But confirmation stays the bend
Emigrating to no end

The Golden Fleece still hangs free
But stays invisible to me
