Holden saw the message
had been written on the wall--
he multiplied within his mind
one million and three sixty five
divided then by twenty four
calibered by sixty hands
an integer of semblance--
contaminant,

his point of view

he stood within the moment-one-
anguished by the truth of two:

There was no recourse for him
as Phoebe rode the carousel

dissociation,
thus reduced

squared to spare her,

Holden wept

and parsed the sentence

from the verb

to leave the lonely "you"...

Ser...you have a very creative mind that
takes so many different paths....but at
the same time...hits the nail right on the
head with what you write...

Now, that is the most well-written book report I've read lately, hands down....and the title...just grinning at you.  *hugs*...jo

Very interesting take on the whole, "Holden Caulfield syndrome".

Excellent.

Thanks all for reading, though I can't say the poem was written for anyone other than yer average "Catcher In The Rye" fan...

heh. Average...grin

But I do appreciate the comments, and them that knows the  book understands the poem.

So yep, Jo, more of a book report than poem.

But it's allllllllllll gravy, right?

Karen, once I read the title I knew I'd love your poem.....Catcher in The Rye has always been one of my favourite books, I've always related and thus I do with your words.  Your creative mind never ceases to impress or provoke thought OR make me wanna write more like you!)
We need more intelligent poems like these in the forums.

Karen,
I have SORELY missed reading your thoughts these past few months I have been away. This is definately one of them that I am going to re-read a few times before letting it go... even though I wasn't much for Catcher.

You may burn my flag... only after you wrap yourself in it first.
