By The Mark Twain Calm runs the mighty Miss I Sip... Flowing faster, this flood persists Around the bend and thru the gorge. To sculpt the soil and onward forge. A place for boys to sit and jaw fish for whiskers, chew a chaw. Spit to hit the flitting fly And skip a rock beneath blue skies. A bell did sound,a whistle cried Around the bend a steamboat’s spied. Two logs go by looking like ghouls Making young boys feel just like fools. Such times as muddy waters rolled And a story was born of two boys bold. Good morning, Magnus. Not too long ago I was treated to a rendition of Twain by none other than Hal Holbrook. The man brings history alive with Twain's character, and if you ever get a chance to see the show, do so. His stories, thoughts, and imaginings will last long into our future. You honored him well. |

Kari, that had to have been a special moment with Hal Holbrook...Wish I could have seen that. Twain has always been one of my faves... right behind Shakespeare and Poe... |
