Rewrite: The Mire of Retire My aging feet have hit quagmire In the mire of retire And though the wheels still spin a bit It’s mostly with the fuel of wit My quickened pace has slowed to crawl That is within the overall The energy to stay the race Now limited in time and space And though the search is still suspense The feelings are much less intense But still I ache to carry on That feel within has never gone A sloth that moves a lesser rate A turtle at a slower state But feelings run me just as high That seeks the purple rose of why While vivid turns a subtle gray And footsteps weigh of yesterday |

Oh, yes, you write for many but there's nothing to "fear" as long as the spirit is willing. We just dance a different way but dance we do! |

I have been holding on to 39 for several years now and it is true the ole body is slower. When I sit for a long time OH! MY! Ohhhhhhhhhhh! Groan. I retired earlier then some, but went back to work. Let me tell you getting up so darn early tain't so easy anymore. More groans...... But in retirement I started to write, photography and have been teaching myself graphic design. Taking day trips. Now I have the time to work in the garden. Teach computers to seniors. I only knew how to turn the dumb thing on when I retired. Now I work part-time and what I think is so cool I get paid vacation time. Just sharing what I was able to do. See Ya Hugs BonBon |

Yepper just another stage in your life. Enjoy. You have your health, maybe it wobbles a little...LOL. You have an active mind from what I read of your poetry. Do you live by the ocean? Enjoy her beauty, her fragrance, her sound. Smile at folks and say hello. For my birthday the girls at work gave me balloons and a cake and decorated my desk. I put ribbons on the balloons and at the bus stop I gave them to the small little ones. Smiles galore. Just many ideas running around in my silly head. Hugs BonBon |

Sy, SO it is the wit, That is the fuel of it. And he is a sage, Becuase he conquered age. But it seems too: It is the romance, Even if feet don't dance. It is the gleem in the eye, That still refuses to die. It is all of this, That brings us bliss. It is the one true guy, That we all know and love as Sy. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, |

Welcome to the club Sy. Like rare wine...we improve with age. (Except that by the time we have the time to get up and go...our get up and go has gone!) Bea Grandma Bea |

Oh how I hate that slowing down part. My mind keeps telling me in the morning that I can accomplish so much more than my body allows. Ever fall asleep watching the 6 PM news? LOL I enjoyed this piece. Rae |

Seymour, Having a quick look around as I've just joined this site. I am amazed that rhyming poets seem to be in fashion here! I tried retiring once, couldn't afford it (still a youngster at 61), But I find i can still give most of my staff and managers a run for their money. I just have to ignore the odd (really odd) pain or two! Only read a couple of your poems up to now but it's nice to find a poet of your caliber, especially when he takes the time to read my meager offerings. Look forward to getting the time to read more of your work, have fun, Ivor The moment created this second, is a moment that's going to last. |
