~*Margaret Diana Tindal*~

Each of us write for a reason
it shouldn't surprise you that mine
is to be a Hallmark poet
catching your heart up in my rhyme~

My words placed in an envelope
reaching you in your time of need
Read with anticipation of
the growth of my poetic seed~

I want the mere four ninety-five
plunked down in Hallmark's checkout line
To know the words I wrote for you
say just what you may want to find~

Let me be a Hallmark poet
while my ears can still hear your praise
Long before I am forced to be
buried deep in the demised grave~

A Hallmark look-a-like, you see,
is what I truly wish to be
Not dusty books upon a shelf
with unread pages of myself~

Stamp me with a Hallmark logo
it is what I would wish so true
Let my words dance within your heart
gifting, perhaps, a sigh to you~

If you like me enough to share
my comforting words with a friend
Then I have made my mark on earth
no matter when there comes the end~

**Absolute shameless use of Hallmark's logo**
(But I'm sending them a copy of the poem)

May Hallmark grant you your wish! ~ and before you return Home to the Big Sky!

Your poetry is definitely worthy of that hallmark!

Margaret Diana, methinks you already are better than any Hallmark poet!

Maybe by sending them a copy,
they will see just what they're missing.

Love ya, Nancy

Or you could always start your own greeting card company and surpass Hallmark as #1! Good luck, Marge!

You know something, I think I like this idea.  It'd make a great post in "Poetry Challenge," as I can imagine many of our PiPTalk members coming up with some fantastic variations on this theme.

On second hand, I don't think you're after a whole lot of competition.     Great poem, by the way.

Marge,
I thought you were a HALLMARK poet.  I look for you each time I buy a card thinking...someday I will be able to turn to the person next to me and exclaim, "I know this writer"! I sincerely hope your wish comes true so that mine can too.

I have enjoyed you far more than any Hallmark card. Maybe you should start your company .. hmmm ... Starmark cards!

Thank you for making me smile and if you do start that company, may I submit my application to write for you?

Great poem --

I was reading a Hallmark card a few weeks ago, and I was surprised that it expressed the words of regret that were in my heart for my ex-wife...things I always wanted to say to her, but didn't think the time was right or couldn't get them out...and my son just happened to be visiting from California...so I ask him to deliver it...don't have any idea if she'll value it...but it spoke from my heart...most of the time I can't find the card with the right words...so I buy the blank ones and write my own...I was really blessed that day to find a perfect Hallmark card...and you Marge would make a perfect writer for Hallmark...James
