You tell me that you love me, Dear - Such easy words to say; While these words the ear will please, With the heart will play. With these words an absolution I see is what you seek - For the games your mind will revel in, Strategies oblique. But I have no will for an idle match; No cause for a gender fight - To see who remains standing last On the base of black and white. For 'tis the moves on the grid of life That my heart will feed; No spoken word can color bright The worth of a single deed. So show me love in the smallest ways, The love you so proclaim - For only then the spoken word Will crown your love's domain. t (P.S. intended non-gender specific) |
