Back Roads By Paul Wilson Crooked miles we’ve traveled on back roads searching for answers around the next bend You and I together feeling the rush of cool air blowing our hair in the wind Dodging pot holes and rain drops singing along too an old country song Another town twenty miles up ahead Paradise its name…is this where we belong We stop for burgers and fries just to see if this is paradise for you and me Old folks gather for daily cup of gossip throwing dagger eyes at you and me This town might be called Paradise by some but it looks like just another Payton place We pay our tab and head out the door not willing too join their rat race Back roads calling us again one more time heading down county road two one three Sun begins to fade behind mountain tops as fireflies put on their light show for you and me Maybe tomorrow we will find answers and that special place we long to be Sleep tight my love…and dream of tomorrow and where our back roads will take you and me ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

As the late John Denver used to sing, "Country roads, take me home..." Enjoyed the road trip! Happy trails to you and your beloved! Loving Light, Linda |

This is a lovely poem. Some great lines and images--I particularly like "daily cup of gossip." Well done. Best wishes, Bill |
