Just when I'd begun to dance, the music stopped.

I close my eyes and wait,
listening to the still.
I can't hear him anymore
and maybe I never will.

But I will wait
till the light grows dim,
acoustic color memories
twirl around in place of him

until the music plays again.

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

I had begun to dance, but this week

Au Sable Point

It was dark
As it always seems to be
At this time of year

The houses
Bedded in their yards
With their eyes closed
The cars crowded along the curbs

In a sky without clouds
Among what stars there were
The moon in its constant solitude
Focused the silence of the hour

It is too late for this
I thought  And yet still I stood there
As I have before
More often than I care to recall

As if that night it might be different
If only for a little longer the heart’s
Faith would have its miracle
And that dawn which had never come
Would arrive

As if I waited
I would soon feel the tender warmth of it
And so again I stood in the depths of night

Waiting to hear
The sound of light
Footsteps on the street

...................

At least it's an excuse
for poetry.
