In the burning fires of yesterdays among the memories of fallen ways when passions fed upon the young adrift in ideologies clinging to ideas afloat in seas of lessor understanding, we lived without awareness of the play, or of the acting, believing scripts were written with afterthought and guile we danced and pranced and spun our idle days along wild jungle trails all the while muddy tired and bloody spinning our own finger scales of light, or in corridors of night bound in concrete and glass lit with drugs and sex and always rock and roll, bright lights were for flash not for understanding, living in the moment expecting miracles with practiced style collecting cities on a whim, we traveled freely as if citizens of a magic kingdom killing unconcerned as if the tab was billed to someone else's karma, wearing nationality as if it were a shield and now so many decades gone still I find I'm sailing on unconcerned about the destination or if the patient dead are awaiting my arrival. ©2007 by icebox . |

Smile. My standard reply to the glory stories is this: "Was I there? Did I have fun?" To which my husband always replies: "Don't you always?" and um, no. Not anymore. Is it any wonder we are tired? But I am not as serene as you, though I envy it. I'm madder than hell at the lack of accomplishment in my own personal history. Somehow, surving doesn't feel like much. But it's all I got for now. Love you Charly. Drums keep pound in rhythm to the brain--ladada deee...ladada die? uh uh "the beat goes on" |
