Spring has come and gone
Merrily on her way
The once proud rows of daffodils
Now lying in decay
Summer's beautiful roses
No longer scent the air
Delicate petals on the ground
Shriveled and dying there

Autumn's glorious colors unfold
Like a peacock strutting her wares
Knowing it's her Last Hurrah
She wants to linger there
Winter winds bring snowflakes
Shining crystals in the night
Covering the earth like a blanket
Resplendent in winter white

I sit alone by the fire
In the winter of my life
And smile as I recall the past
As I face the afterlife
For I have seen the glorious daffodills
And inhaled the rose's scent
I have partaken of nature's bounty
And I will leave this world content

In your case we will pray for a loooong winter

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Thanks Interloper...hopefully, there is strength in numbers.  (Now if we could only get a few more, you might all be stuck with me until I'm 101!)

Thanks Lady, this is also one of my favorites. I like to pull it up once in awhile when I feel father time creeping up on me! (I wrote this a couple of years ago when faced with yet another birthday.)

A touching poem ~ gracefully penned.

May the winds blow gently in the winter of your days.
