They said that you were dead, my friend
But I said "it couldn't be
I spoke to him this morning"
And yet...I came to see.
I didn't believe it for a moment
For here you are with me.
I'll make a cup of tea,
We'll sit and chat awhile,
Although you'll sit in silence
For lately, that's your style.

It's really quite amusing,
For just last week they said
That Billy Moore had passed away
And I KNOW he isn't dead!
We had cocktails Monday evening,
He was funny as could be
As we sat and reminisced,
Nothing wrong that I could see.
Dear Barbara Anne is gone...
I imagine that you knew
But I was relieved to find the rumor
About YOU wasn't true.

It's time to go again my friend
It's dinnertime for me
So I'll put away my album
Till tomorrow, then we'll see
If Billy Moore can join us
In a reunion...just we three.
If you noticed there's an empty space
Beside you...well you see,
It's a very special place...
I'm saving it for me.

Thanks LeeJ...Memories are all that we have of departed loved ones and friends. They are never truly gone, as long as they are in our minds and hearts.

Thanks Sy. This was the result of a short story that I had read some time ago, and can't for the life of me remember where.
However, it stayed in my mind and voila!
