Sad are we… for those who leave,
Loved ones left to mourn and grieve,
The words not spoke… they torment such
To whisper once, "I loved you, oh so much".

And through the course of lonely years,
Oft times I felt you standing near,
I reached for you to gently touch,
To murmur once, "I loved you, oh so much".

Now loved ones I do say goodbye,
To join those souls… to ride the sky,
To see your face with stilling hush,
And say to you, "I love you, oh so much".

Then you kissed me and in tender voice replied,
"I never left and I never died",
"those nightmare years… which lonely seemed",
"was the spirit of me - that inside you dreamed".

For this life on earth is fleetingly brief,
To waste our love on mourning and grief,
In heaven we'll walk in fields so lush,
And finally say, "Darling… I love you, oh so much".

Poetry is just the evidence of life.
If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. "
Leon Cohen~
