December’s Past [For Ms. Christine Rose] I decide to hide once more to put out the cat-world and none shall mourn my invisibility this sad December day! The shades are drawn out...out...upon the sights and sounds of all mortal schemers great and small upon the broken-brick temples and garbage in the streets .....‘reality’ retreats..... in a moment’s sanctuary mid distant echoes of early Christmas bells and mingled memories from light years ago... Now I know why poets wrote about ‘Love from afar’ that cannot tarnish from rain or tears, but remains instead forever young! We cannot ‘kill’ what ‘never was’ she taught me this the only ‘certain certainties for which we seek’ are things which ‘might have been’ always possible, always perfect, and just beyond reach...... that was my lady of the roses! |

This one gave me a sad smile. Yes, the might-have-beens are always pure, but never really there. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |
