The Smile

Of all the things pure love could want,
I found my heart’s desire.
She passed me by, as if in taunt,
Her eyes alight with fire.

Beautiful as was her smile
--It scarce could be outdone--
Her sense of humor, all the while,
Caused lesser men to run.

She bore with unknowing grace so rare,
With all that she was blessed,
An equally unknowing air,
The beauty she possessed.

I watched in awe her radiant face.
Her laughter filled the air--
A sound that harkened memory's trace
Of friends and weather fair.

Would this captivating girl
Ever know my name?
Could my heart, now in a whirl,
Ever feel the same?

Time and life will show us how,
If love brings us together.
If not, a smile, here and now,
Would have to last forever.

I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran

Thanks, Lee.

It is a fluffy little piece about a very important topic--that "je ne sais quoi" that makes the world go 'round.

Thanks for writing!

Thanks, TD.

I was waxing poetic on a fluffy cloud, or something...

Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks, Shadows.

I did so hope to wrap it all up in a big, emotional bow...

Thanks, Seymour.

I always aim to please...but, of course, everyone has different tastes.  I'm glad that I could serve up something to please your palate.
