The Distance Having gone some distance in life, now each day is a reminder it's not a race to get ahead but an opportunity to be kinder to everyone I come across, to extend a helping hand, if nothing but to nod my head and reassure I understand. Having begun the journey full of self, rushing to get what I was owed, uncaring of all the people passed, it became a lonely road. I take my time in walking now and stop whenever I see one in need, I have found I'm more fulfilled producing a kind word or deed. And all these folks that pass me by... I know I'll see them again ahead, they will be the ones to say "I understand" and nod their head. |

"I understand" and nod their head. as always, it is the last line that makes all the rest worthwhile. if not to understand, but more to feel a feeling deep inside. a poet who cares |
