It is winter.

She sends me
photographs of sand,

relaxing
under sunset
with the kind of warmth
I knew as restricted
to humans.

It smiles
glittering golden teeth
so hungry
for a decade,

she tells me
you have called
and I crave

to step over
and over
the grains

to scrape away

dead skins

between us.

Between us,

the revelations
of dusk-light
on a silhouette,

eyes
searching
out to sea

are countless
and final.
