The Bill Of Rights
is being rewritten
by hands that have no clue
as to the inalienable rights
of me and you.

I've paid my dues
but I've missed some cues,
some chances to right
This Bill Of Wrongs.

Do unto others....
before they do do unto you,
the new creed that 'justifies' every bad deed.
You have the right to bear arms!
(but not to bare feet when you go out to eat.)

Unattended luggage
will be confiscated
and destroyed!!!
(Unattended rights shall suffer the same.)

I read the fine print
of the newest modifications
three times times three,
but even with a college degree,
they make no sense to me.

Of course ignorance is bliss!
(But it is no defense.)

Look before you leap!
Then jump in without regret,
the water is fine!
(What water????)

The skies don't cry lately,
but the flora and fauna do.
And somewhere over yonder rainbow
bluebirds fly...
(so does the West Nile virus.)

And the beat goes on and on and on.
But is anyone listening?
Is anyone listening?
anyone...listening
listening

They may be listening, but they aren't hearing, are they?  I like this very much, the plays on words were successful and clever.

Thanks, Dixie, and Nan.
Exercise your rights of free speech and association,
before they are buried completely!
I promised Madame Chipmunk I would NEVER be silent about exercising our inalienable rights and freedoms.

So many questions derive from this. I hear you loud and clear. William Tyler Page and many other deceased American's would roll over in there graves to know what we have now "The Living Bill"

I believe in the United States of America as a Government of the People, by the People, for the People; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the Governed; A Democracy in a Republic, a Sovereign Nation of many sovereign
States, a Perfect Union, one and Inseparable; established upon those Principles of Freedom, Equality, Justice and Humanity for which America Patriots sacrificed their lives and Fortunes."
" I therefore believe it is my duty to my Country
to love it; to support its Constitution; to Obey its Laws; to Respect its flag and to Defend It
against All Enemies.
God Bless America and Blessed Be, Do as you Will, but Harm ye None! em

Poetry is just the evidence of life.
If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. "

Kacy,

I knew you were on that wave length...
She was a special gal. One who put a
memory in our hearts that will never wane
or die...

Thanx for bringing it up...

There's a lot of truth here.  I am amazed at
how many laws and stipulations have been placed in order to protect or benefit those who have earned it least.  Just doesn't make sense!

Cleverly written

Kacy,
The Chipmunk would. Listen, I mean. A nice remember.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Thanks are due from me too Kacy.

I remember well that when she roared she was usually right on top of the subject so to speak.

I am most glad I read this re-posting of a fine and 'important' write by Kacy!

It triggered a moment of 'socio-political' consciousness-dejavu in me!....
reminded me of my one "P.I.P" post in particular:

       ‘Bicentennial’ Fantasies
  (in a constitutional wilderness)

       1776-1976    1787-1987

   [to my ancestor, John Adams....
for all who have been given
    no reason to ‘celebrate’!.....
    a philalethist speaks on (alleged)
   'inalienable rights’ and other
    such lovely myths!]

"....this land":

"....of broken dreams
where should be ‘America’!....."

"....of moral and economic tyranny
where should be ‘Freedom’!......"

I too hope that folks are truly 'listening'!

Kacy, a most spine chilling write...wondering what it will be like for our grandchildren and have things changed all that much really?  Man, is somehow triggered by desire, power...richness....

Thanking each one of you! In poem replies as well as private emails, our beloved Madame Chipmunk encouraged me, and asked me to promise to speak out often and 'loudly' for our inalienable rights.
And not a day goes by that I don't try to keep my promise to her!
