Wildflowers on the Wind

Orchids and roses, fragrant and rare
are not this lady, so do not compare
admire the view, breathe in one or two
be as much at home under skies of blue

where winds blow, meadowlarks sing
wildflowers grow ‘round her in rings

tensile strength, hidden from view
emotional ties one by two
a slave to sounds, music or word
drawn to dreams, she’s reassured

where winds blow, meadowlarks sing
wildflowers grow ‘round her in rings

she’ll pick wildflowers, cornflowers blue
smell the lupine, soft purpling hues
her garden grows gentian all along
content by her springs, with cardinal’s song

where winds blow, meadowlarks sing
wildflowers grow ‘round her in rings

she’s not of lace, more broadcloth blue
she doesn’t wear silk, cotton will do
her smile genuine, she’ll not laugh at you
but more at herself is what she will do

where winds blow, meadowlarks sing
wildflowers grow ‘round her in rings

don’t be amazed at her mercurial eyes
don’t ask if her love is her best surprise
it’s in her to center down in your heart
in simple naiveté her true love starts

where winds blow, meadowlarks sing
wildflowers grow ‘round her in rings

You know I read this and was absolutely certain it was about our Martie.  As a matter of fact, I think I will continue to think that.   It's lovely!

wildflowers growing
ringing around your rosy
just wish I was one

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

    Sunshine (my lovely binary opposite)

"in simple naivete her true love starts"

    absolutely wonderful expression of
           beliefs essential to a
Classical Romantic Poet... such as I.

Thank you all!  This is one of my favorite poems, and I gifted it back to me this month, even though the beautiful wildflowers are gone for the moment, they will come again, soon enough...

and I will try to capture their purplish-blue as best I can in word.
