This Day Today as I swing through the trees Grabbing vines retrieve and believe I howl in dare and scream in swear And without the mane of my hair I seek a path that stays the wood To rest my arms, my legs are good To find a field of clovers green Where prey would rest in peace unseen My belly grumbles, mind rumbles My body bends in hungers stumble I seek to satisfy the day For this is the hunter’s way I cannot stop for I would die And would be eaten where I lie I cannot stop my swings achieve Grabbing the vines retrieves believe Although I see the gray of change It stays with me as not so strange |

Although I may not grasp the vine As vigorously as when youth was mine I dare say I can hold my own When young apes try to usurp my throne They are not as cautious as I Not sensing danger as they swing by Exposing themselves to the Lion's jaw Survival of the fittest is the Jungle's law As I make my way from vine to vine I know for certain that victory is mine!
