in the shadows

When we were young,
oh you know
a thousand years or so ago,
we promised love a life eternal
without regard to petty wheels of change
or age,
love,
just like our karmic crimes,
would follow us throughout all time
to rise and fall
and rise again,
eternal
like Constantine's Sol Invictus;
I didn't know our souls were geared
to tick on different lines,
that there were signs I never read,
I can't deny on looking back
along the tired track of astral bodies
in collision
with the living and the dead
I should have seen,
should have known
but I don't mind;
to have realized
I had it all and let it go
is the mystery that gets to me;
there is in me a certainty,
understanding or acceptance,
call it what you may,
I see you've gotten lost
in racing after myth
and I can't help you find your way.

...

a fair enough assessment lovie--and even if you would give me personal advice--smile--it's not bloody likely I'd follow it, eh?

you are among the top five of the most thoughtful, caring and huggable poets, and your pen exudes warmth, even when weary.

I wonder if the greatest gift of love is to let it go.

Thought-filled and deeply touching.

"When we were young,

and I have kept to that with my love for life and my children and their children...and so on...
