Words, and I
have a virtual destiny
I write them off
and I toss them onto paper,
because I don't believe
in predetermination
I'll consider the idea,
but I won't bleed for it
There are too many other
things in my blood
to narrow my veins even more
with absolutes
I think we love what we run from
and make love to what we run to
Who is a matter of when,
and when it's right,
damn, it's worth writing about
but Words can't cut it

Why else would night
ever carry the scent of someone
we desire but don't have,
and why does the rain
make empty shapes
in a room

When the skies pry open a moment
and who I belong to
is filling my arms
I'll say that Fate is a true prophet
who has a perfect pocket-watch
and he's the only one who has ever
nailed the weather

Right now, Words fit
tomorrow
they'll still fit

We belong together, but we love each other from a distance
I'm not always willing to go down deep into the hard to reach places
to find them, so they come to me
I'm not always kind and sometimes I close the door,
but I'm done running. I'll leave that to the ink.

Regina,
And I would expect nothing less of you. Now I can relax as I know you are okay. But how you've piqued my curiosity. Peace...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

~sigh~ Regina, your words reach deep down into reality's bloodstream, rhythmically travel in poetic pulses to follow a heart that bleeds  honesty in every beat.
A dynamic, powerful, aching write.
Good to read your poetry again.
~Peace to you~

Loved your closing lines, as I could relate:

"I'm not always kind and sometimes I close the door,
but I'm done running. I'll leave that to the ink."

(Even my ink limps these days though.)

There's been a lot of homecoming poets this past week--it's almost like old times Reg.

LeeJ: Smiles. You're so good to my efforts. I really like what you said. Your "white horse" words are an existing metaphor for something personal to me. Thank you hon.

Words, from the pen of the poet,
birthed on the wings of angels,
spewed forth from the fires of hell,
Given life by all in-between . . .
Your words, my friend,
touch where nothing else can...

jimmy: Such a wonderful reply. Very honored by your words and eyes, hon. Sometimes I touch on touchy thangs that get me into trouble. (Did I say that?) But I have your words, all inspiring. Thank you hugs.

themute: Yes, very true. Too true, for me, and thank you for your kind compliment. Happy holiday hugs.

peace & poetry,
Reg
