Come lean on me my friend
I am here for you
Take my arm when you falter
And miss a step or two

When the pain becomes too much to bear
And your courage begins to wane
Shed your tears upon my shoulder
There is no need to explain

When you give in to despair
And there's no relief in sight
I'll try my best to comfort you
And try to make things right

I wil gladly share this burden
That fate has decreed for you
For I know if our roles reversed
You would be there for me too

True friendship never dies
And love will see us through
You only have to call on me
I'll always be here for you

True enough,
and by example
others will follow...

if not begin to lead
the next generation.

Thank you, Bea!

Such good friends are indeed a blessing.
Very nicely done Beatrice.

There is not much that i would change on this poem. True friends are hard to come by, and I believe the the dictonary needs to revise it's definition of what a friend really is. Thank you for sharing your poem.

Thank you Angel and Bill...It takes work being a friend...almost like a marriage as a matter of fact, but it's more than worth the effort!
