This was inspired by a visit to the American War Cemetery in Omaha France in September of this year...I felt such emotion for the soldiers - men and women buried there on foreign soil away from their loved ones...

Today I have witnessed
Beauty and Destruction
Beauty in the open fields
And country manors and rolling hills
Destruction in the thousands of lives
Lost to war at the American Cemetery in Omaha
10,000 men and women gave their all
For their country
To save the lives of many in another country
10,000 families left to suffer the heartache
of grief and sadness and loneliness and depression
Lives lost for freedom
Being free bears a cost...

Wonderful words here.It is so sad that to bring peace it must end with war. Good Job Roniece

Roniece...Any loss is never easy to take, but at least their sacrifice was not in vane.
Enjoyed...Paul

A beautiful tribute, but sometimes I wonder if the cost is worth the unbearable price.

Somehow, I think that politic is buried deeper than the bodies in moments like these. Although I have not been there, I have seen similar sites--and like you, I did not see "one", but "many" individual lives--each with a story, a family, and unrealized dreams.

Your sensitivity is moving Roniece, and I was touched by your insight.
