The Lonely Orange Oh you can’t make a rhyme with an orange (it would sound too incredibly strorange) so over the years we bland sonneteers have left it alone and forlorange! [This message has been edited by Ratleader (12-04-2006 05:26 PM).] |

....sigh....had to cut down my blood orange tree today....and somehow stacking wood and limericks always go together for me. There's no earthly reason why, but any time I stack wood, I start having limericks! ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

Most poets who know rhyming's cast put oranges first and not last and then there's some time to make up a rhyme that won't leave the others aghast a good commitee can decimate communication. |

Smiling at this and at Kethry's reply. Limericks are the way of "release". |

Darling man I can't help but smile when I think of anyone trying to rhyme orange, it always gives me a mental picture of Witchy Poo in H R PuffNStuff. I know, the youngsters wont recall it but I do. Anyway pity about the tree, I hope that at least you got some beautiful wood from it. Love the limerick darling man, absolutely love it sorry about the pink, I can't find another colour that fits me anwhere near so well as always Mushy x x x x Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds |

Ed I like the fact you 'have' limericks sounds like an illness like you 'have' measles to me, sorry about your tree. Here's a limerick to make you feel better chop, chop poor little blood orange once was fine but now is so strange its run out of sap so I slash and hack while thinking of rhymes for an orange and I wrote this a while ago in payment for stolen oranges but it fits. Ode of an Orange. I am the last... I do not want to go gentle into the land of juice and pith where life is sucked from me and I am left wrung out, hung out with nothing more than withered skin to show I lived at all. I have lived and tasted the fullness of life, of maturity and yet I am green not ready to cast off this skin and become a husk for your pleasure sucked dry by your desire Yet what else is there? I was created for you and so consume me fully and completely but be warned, I will not go gentle and the bitterness of my bile might just poison you. a good commitee can decimate communication. |

Poor lost orange gone...gone to make a winter fire. Poor lost orange gone...never more neath its foliage will the weary rodent suspire. Play it...play it soft on your lyre: poor lost orange. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

That's great! Now you need to do follow-up poems about purple and silver, lol. Great stuff. |

If I had but a limerick to share I would certainly do it with care for to write of a golden fruit and far be it from my suit I would have to give that orange certain flair! See what you do? |

Why is it so strange, writing poems about an orange? It's made people smile, has so much style, and stops us from being derange! Ok so the last bit is a little iffy..LOL..but i enjoyed the fun of this write. Thanks ED.. Goldenrose. At the touch of love, everyone becomes poets. Plato 427 BC-348. |

Limericks on orange make me quiver next thing we'll be writing of sliver it's silver I think or maybe hot pink and then we must stand and deliver. a good commitee can decimate communication. |

I think you should write of purple dreams, and throw in some magenta streams, for orange doesn't stand alone, many words don't go in poems, and is this as silly as it seems? |

sweetness it ain't always citrus and oranges ain't always "fitness" pears, I have found are pleasingly round at the bottom where I am deemed "mistress"! |

If I were an orange and I'm not I'd grow somewhere nice and hot then on each passing day I'd turn green to gray to quench thirst drink me soon for I rot |

Lack of time and a good ole case of the blahs has kept me quiet lately. *S* But what a delightful read this is to come back to... You even layer your limericks with subtleties so that the immediate reaction is a grin... then the sadness seeps in at the thought of so much beauty and goodness lost. Excellent work!! |
