Understanding The Silence Of Trees Tilting side to side, her heart explored topography of gestures Gathering the bits of commonality on quiet green fields To a line of demarcation just beyond politely postured wheat A taller sentinel than his stature, defined his oak and willow nature Moving in and out of shadows, through the raised and settling hush She waited there, at the edge of hope, postured to attentively listen Random creaks of weather, sometimes just the rustle of wishes Captured in the branches of audible moans, as the wind made nest Nothing new can grow from the floor of thick forest, except hope Then, she approached winter, with a warmer coat and stronger legs Her eyes looked up into his thinly spread breadth, parting curious lips There, filled up from the expansive depths, expressions of affinity She touched his trunk with gentle hands, trading whispers as gloves Looking deeper into tears, that sometimes froze soundless and blue Though nothing else was said, but understanding the silence of trees Copyright Kkh 12/1/06 |

as always, I am astounded TD "She touched his trunk with gentle hands, trading whispers as gloves Looking deeper into tears, that sometimes froze soundless and blue Though nothing else was said, but understanding the silence of trees" |

Kathleen~ *sigh* ... such originality of thoughts you portray~ While I loved the uniqueness of it all, this - 'sometimes just the rustle of wishes' - grabbed my heart and held on~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |

T.D., If I want to feel the wonder of our language and rhythm, I can always find it here. If there were no meaning, your poetry would still sing to me. The resonance alone is beautiful. I found the third verse from the end to be exquisite and almost pasted it here. Then I read what followed. I bow to you young lady! Just awesome, and I agree with Magnus. I think this is one of your best if not the best--Well, who can say? Afterall, they are all our babies, aren't they? In that case, I'll restate it: This is one of MY favorites! How's that? misc |
