It Simply Just Happens That Way

I suppose you've given up again,
could I bring myself to cry
if not for you, or for the end
just for the not knowing why?

It's nothing you did or didn't do,
it's nothing I pushed away,
not something I lost without a clue,
it simply just happens that way.

What we had was hard to find
but now there's no going back,
stepping stones should be left behind,
they only hinder the present track.

I could make the feelings come
and bring myself to cry
for reality that I am numb
and have no reason why.

Every rainbow comes from gray
and bruises eventually go away,
each dawn begins another day
it simply just happens that way.

Dixie...the stepping stones...I see them in front of you, not behind.

"it simply just happens that way"

sometimes Dixie
it really does just happen

and bruises always do go away
leaving fair skin behind

this is so moving

This is another most fine example (similar to several other fine poems I've read on 'P.I.P.' today!)....of what I call: 'every-person' dejavu....

segments of this 'write' allow it to waft along that 'immortal plane'!...such as:

"I suppose you've given up again,
could I bring myself to cry
if not for you, or for the end
just for the not knowing why?"

an emotional 'slice' of most (all?!) of our lives!

"...and bruises eventually go away,"

and a few always seem to last forever.

Understanding pain breaks the claws of its tyranny.

Thank you for sharing this.

Very nice. This poem reminded me of a past relationship; when we departed I was left numb with no emotion.
