Each night,  the emerald skies aglow as cosmic bracelets shimmered
And silence washed over a fleeting shadow bearing a rainbow’s pot,
a Knight’s chalice….A maiden’s coveted  Prize.

They came,
Riding  the whispering winds and crumbling  still leaves that
desperately hugged the earth’s last grasp of vintage soils lacing
The river’s bend  as lathered steeds pulled the bit and burst headlong
Into the fire’s light with dark eyes aglow…..

Calling,  waiting to course the river’s winding trail,   searching for lost and
Lifeless wandering souls.   Listening for the soft cry of  lingering death
amongst the trees as the stones chilled and the faint crunch of a gravel
Track stirred a lid….waiting for time to tarry once more,  around  a
Lonesome, winding river’s bend….
