I turned left on a rural road and walked this path of cobbled stone
A meadow green on my right side, I notice that the trees have grown
Their crowns, way up above my head, had touched somehow, forming a bow
And through the branches sunlight's playing, hide and seek, a magic show

I rest a while and take it in, the whispering of leaves in breeze
No other sound is heard right now, or it must be the hum of bees
The cobbled stones are trimmed by grass and tiny weeds, now full in bloom
Wild roses formed a coloured hedge, releasing fragments of perfume

Sweet memories come back in mind, of kisses stolen in moon's light
Of soft embrace and giggling laughs, the "Lover's lane", her name so right
I touch the trees with carved in names, I'm recognizing quite a few
And wonder where they'll be this day, I haven't got the faintest clue

I reach the end and walk right through the pastures of my childhood time
As always when I'm in this mood, I'm whisp'ring words in lines that rhyme
I hear the sound of tractors pulling blades of iron through dark clay
The seagulls from the sea not far, are circling 'round or fly away

Then I decide to turn back home and walk through Lover's lane once more
To hear the sound of giggling laughs and feel the touch of sweet adore
It will be gone one day, I know,  that lane of my young adulthood
The past and present merge so well, where I stand now and once I stood

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

Lovely...the nine years I've lived in Hawaii I've lost at least three favorite places due to redevelopment...its good to enjoy them as long as you can, and hopefully develop new favorite places...James

Recently, when talking about where we'd like to travel, just to take photographs, I referred to the pictures of your homeland I've seen both here and on your website.
As always Titia, your world is amazing.

What a perfect mesh of image and words.

Thanks all for the sweet replies.

The photo is not the actual lover's lane, but suited very well with the poem.
Lover's lane was smaller and more intimate, with bushes of hawthorn on both sides and here and there wild roses.
