The Greatest Thing You Did

I always knew you would do great things in life

you made money
you made friends
you made time
you made love

you molded the world
in the shape of a laugh

you grew power
and let me eat it
you danced the rain
and let me drink it

you curled my hair like smoke rings
you curled my toes like a train wreck

you rambled chaos
and exhaled peace
you fell asleep on my shoulder

you dared to love me
the little tornado I was
and you stood hard like a statue

great things being what they are
the greatest
is how you broke my heart.

A poem begins with a lump in the throat.
~Robert Frost

Oh my.  That's a good one.  I almost said you could only be hurt by people who mean a lot to you, but it's patently untrue, so I'll rephrase it-you can be hurt the most by those who mean the most.

Sweet Lady,  hard to forget, to forgive...
but it can be done...takes courage from
both sides...very touching poem....

No backtracking now...

but a reminisce now and again...
it's a deep well...and I go there, too...

Oldies are good... they show us how much we've grown. *S* This is superb, dear lady... and I applaud the way you didn't let the hurt keep you down. *S*
