Sentinel

Oh, high minded guard of wayward ways,
when love re-swayed as mindful thoughts were
caught in swirl, unfurled, whirled and uncurled,

what did you tie in knots?

What tongue was tied in treasured tomb of love
lost and found and lost again?

And why? Why the keep? Why
the weep and why the sweep
under rug, if you were just not sure?

Asking, oh you did,
you asked for honesty
tore the very heart from me
held me up to standard’s bare
and bearing all, I couldn’t share
some of all the honesty.

Oh but you, you held the coup
and held it well, until the tell
long after gone, you held
it true, and left another to un-coup you.

Until the hearing upon that day, I was once
one piece, one whole, one part, one being
at ease, and then the questions of past came through
your broken dreams of love, askew,
skewing, pinning me to some broken dream,
some love now warped, some bling lost gleam.

I, once sure of blood,
now a child of questionable lineage,
thank you, still, yes thank you,
dear, for allowing me,
to be.

Deca....There is a feeling from this poem of inner turmoil and also awareness.  Even though the subject may not be known in an exact way, the emotive quality is.  I like poems that come from this deep place.

Siyo Decaflame far to often we forget counting coup is to get close enough to touch and get away safe, nothing of our own lost. In truth there are far too many who play this game, but later find themselves the victim!
